I'm wondering what I can meal prep ahead of time to eat after? I dont want to be a burden on anyone that will have to cook for me. I live with my boyfriend but might be spending time at my parents. How long will it be before I can make meals? I was thinking of making freezer meals within the next few weeks. Ive made chili, soups, and meatloaf in the past. I thought this might be good for the weeks after surgery as well. Should I stock up on high fiber foods before surgery to avoid constipation?
Answer: Foods to eat after breast augmentation I generally recommend you hydrate well with minerals and electrolytes. Vitamin C is an excellent supplement. Avoid spicy foods early on. Remember that the pain medicine can give you constipation. A stool softener is often advised. Limit your sodium intake.

Answer: Diet after breast augmentation Thank you for your question. It is great to prepare for surgery and I'm glad to hear that you are already thinking about diet. In general, you do want to keep a healthy portion of protein as your body needs this to heal. In addition, I would recommend that you stock up on the high fiber foods to avoid constipation as well as things to help keep you hydrated (soups, sports drinks, water, etc.). Good luck.

Answer: Food Following Surgery We recommend gentle foods for the first 24 - 48 hours following surgery to encourage eating and decrease nausea. For example saltine crackers, water based soups, pudding, applesauce, etc. Also stock up on a few carbonated sodas as drinking water initially after surgery may make you nauseous. You may return to normal food after 48 hours following surgery but it may be helpful to have some freezer meals available since you will still be taking pain medication and may not be up to preparing meals. High fiber foods may be handy to help with constipation secondary to taking the pain pills, you can also try Milk of Magnesia if this occurs.

Answer: Planning ahead Hello,It's excellent you're thinking and planning ahead for you're post augmentation recovery. While every plastic surgeon may have slightly different recommendations for activities and nutrition after breast augmentation surgery, on whole most women are able to resume normal everyday activites within 1-2 weeks. I would talk with your plastic surgeon about your expected recovery course after your surgery so you will be best prepared.Best of luck!Dr. Rednam

Answer: High fiber is great -- but you won't be out of commission long... High fiber foods are a great idea -- kale, spinach and the like. Don't forget to walk and keep hydrated too though. After about 3 days, you should feel like cooking again though. Put your boyfriend of knife and dish duty though -- I have had a woman get a hematoma 8 days after surgery by scrubbing a pot! Good luck!
