i had surgery about a month ago and I've been feeling some tension in my neck for about a week now. I noticed a swollen lymph node today, so I'm just wondering if that's normal or if I should be alarmed

Swelling and bruising can happen anywhere near the suture from your surgery, or resulting from a tight binder being worn. I would say to give the bruised and swollen area a day or so to clear up, and then if it continues you should contact your PS personally to discuss the type of compression...
