This week I'll be attending a meeting with my plastic surgeon for breast reduction, and I wanted to know beforehand, would I have to hire a nurse for aftercare or do plastic surgeons normally hire nurses for after-care?
Answer: Breast reduction I ask my patients to have someone at home after the surgery. The procedure is same day and I don't want my patients alone. A nurse however is rarely necessary unless a family member it friend cannot be with you.

Answer: Breast reduction There is not too much after care from breast reduction surgery, I typically would not have a private nurse as there is nothing to do

Answer: Hiring a nurse I normally require patients to be taken home by a trusted friend or family member, who then has to stay with them for at least 24 hours after their surgery. If you don't have anyone that can do this for you, then a nurse may be hired. Usually, your surgeon can help you find one but this is for an additional fee.

Answer: Nursing care after plastic surgery Without knowing more about your situation, it is impossible to give you specific advice. However, in general breast reduction surgery is outpatient - meaning you can go home the same day. If you have a relative or responsible adult that can take care of you, that is usually sufficient. However, if you want private duty nursing, your plastic surgery office most likely can arrange that for you. Often we have patients fly into town and stay at the hotel for their recovery. We then arrange to have our private nurses take care of them during their recover. Perhaps you could look into this if you want a more private recovery than going home.Good Luck

Answer: Nurse for aftercare after a breast reduction This is definitely a question you should ask your Plastic Surgeon, as postoperative routines vary from surgeon to surgeon. My breast reduction patients generally go home the same day. I use waterproof dressings that stay in place until the first postoperative visit, and I also do not routinely place drains during breast reduction. So there would be very little in terms of actual aftercare for a nurse to do. But your surgeon's postoperative instructions may be different. Even if you have drains, however, drain care is fairly simple, and is something you can do yourself or have a family member help you with.
