Dear regular girl, In my practice I do not do tummy tuck and liposuction at the same time, because of the statistics that show that complication rate increase X 10 when combining the two procedures. So, for tummy tuck alone, my patients wear a Velcro binder for 3 weeks or longer if the feel more comfortable with it. For liposuction of Abdomen, hips and flanks , since I perform it very aggressively, no faja or binder are allowed for 2 weeks, because it can cut the circulation and cause scarring. I place a drain for 4-5 days to remove the fluids and allow the skin to adhere to the muscles underneath. This prevents seromas and the need for needle sticking aspiration of the fluids. I hope this helps, Dr Widder
