Thank you for your question. This is a difficult question to answer without photos. I often take into consideration my patients hip to waist ratio prior to surgery. Sometimes people have what is known as a "violin deformity", where there is a curve from the flank, a divet, and then another curve in the hip. In this situation, instead of doing liposuction only to flanks and/or hips which could leave a "boxy" appearance, I liposuction aggressively in the flanks, remove fat in the hips if there is excess, and then graft to the divet giving one smooth curve.
