Why does CoolSculpting machine keep saying "thermal event" for the same area wanted to be treated?

Hello, I've had a treatment of coolsculpting on my abdominal area. I did my left side and when I wanted to do the right side, the machine turned off saying it was a "thermal event". I have since gone back three more times to attempt to treat the right side but after 10 minutes or so it shuts off again saying "thermal event"! Any ideas why it keeps doing this on the right side of my abdomine? We can't figure it out. Basically my left side is treated and the right is not!

The distribution of the fat may be different on the right side and the applicator may not be able to grab enough tissue, and hence you are seeing  thermal event. 
1. Examine the area carefully to see if there is enough subcutaneous fat.
2. Newer applicators may not grab the tissue like the old applicators.

The thermal error just means that the temperature was not ideal for the entire treatment or the area did not have full contact with applicator. As long as you go the correct temperature for 1 hour, you will get a good result.

CoolSculpting is a very precise and sensitive machine. When the applicator is placed on the area to be treated, it has to make a perfect grip otherwise the machine will not work. It is possible that on one side of your abdomen, the fat deposit has a slight difference from the other side. Your physician should be able to answer your concerns.

This error is typically from an area that the machine is reading as getting too cold, but it's odd that it is only occurring on that side.  I've never had this happen like this.  Your provider can definitely have the local training person come in and help troubleshoot this.

If you are repeatedly getting this error message then the practice (physician) should be calling the company to help you with their representative to see what the problem is. Hello, so grateful for a great question.  It would be important to first share with us how much fat is there at the area you want treated, it may be too little.  The other question is if the correct applicator and full contact is established, for example if it is over an uneven surface, this issue can come up.  Hope that helps, even though I am answering a question with a question.

If you own a machine and are experiencing this , I would suggest you call customer support as they can troubleshoot what is needed. But the machine is not cooling appropriately . If you are a patient , then this should be this issue of the medical practice
