I'm 7 weeks post op and i'm wondering is there still a chance of infection and my incision opening? I've read many reviews and noticed people having infections or popping sutures or their incisions opening up a bit. I'm about 95% standing upright but the last 5% seems too be very difficult with the tightness and burning sensation.
Answer: Complications Thank you for the question. Complications after abdominoplasty are rare. It relays safe and effective procedure. With the use of Exparel even the pain after is less. Redness and sutures on the incision is common and resolves with time. My patients are told to shower and use neosporin ointment along with the scar creams

Answer: Infection very unlikely seven weeks after and abdominoplasty. A significant infection seven weeks after and abdominoplasty's most unlikely. Small wound healing issues caused by buried sutures however are not uncommon at all.

Answer: Tummy tuck incisions At 7 weeks after your tummy tuck you are still healing and there is a possibility of you incision opening where there has been fat necrosis under the healing skin that fails to support the skins strength and just pulls gently apart. This is managed with local wound care in this situation. Infection from the primary procedure is becoming less a threat as time proceeds. Best of luck

Answer: 7 weeks Almost all patients with wound healing problems know there is an issue before seven weeks, so I would hold it unlikely that you will get an infection or wound separation. All the best.

Answer: Infection after tummy tuck At 7 weeks post op, it is unlikely that you would get a significant infection. However, you may experience "spinning stitches" and can get a small stitch abscess. These are easily handled by your surgeon. He/she will remove the stitch that has worked it's way to the surface. You then will apply antibiotic ointment 2-3 times per day until the wound is closed. These are no big deal if handled early. Another reason that post op care with your surgeon is important.
