I'm finally coming around to getting a rhinoplasty done. I'm very glad I've decided to prepare to go through with the procedure, I've been beyond ready to get it done though. After looking around though and further examination of my face, I feel as though I'm lacking in other aesthetic departments. After getting my consultation, I took some more looks and how my profile looks, and I feel my chin and jaw are vastly undefined. Would I be a good candidate to get implants in these areas?
Answer: Chin implant with rhinoplasty Hello and thank you for your question. Based on your photograph, you are a great candidate for rhinoplasty and a chin implant. A chin implant can help balance your lower face and make your nose appear less prominent. The most important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. With good surgical technique, you could have an outstanding result. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate you in person. Best wishes and good luck. Richard G. Reish, M.D. Harvard-trained plastic surgeon

Answer: Getting a rhinoplasty, but am I also a good candidate for chin implants, and maybe even jaw line definition? Nasal cosmetic surgery and a chin implant are frequently performed together in the appropriate patient. The ideal aesthetic result should be individualized to achieve harmony with your other facial features and improve the areas that concern you. Whether a chin implant or a more extensive jaw surgery would be optimal depends on multiple factors including your desired outcome and personal anatomy. Keep in mind that following advice from a surgeon on this or any other website who proposes to tell you what to do based on two dimensional photos without examining you, physically feeling your tissue, assessing your desired outcome, taking a full medical history and discussing the pros and cons of the operative procedure would not be in your best interest. Natural appearing results need to be individualized and what is appropriate for one patient is not necessarily the best for someone else. I would suggest that you find a surgeon with extensive rhinoplasty experience certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and one who is ideally a member of The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) or a facial plastic surgeon (otolaryngologist) that you trust and are comfortable with. You should discuss your concerns with that surgeon in person. The extent and length of the procedure, cost, and the specific operative steps to achieve an ideal cosmetic result vary from patient to patient and would depend on the findings at your consultation examination. Answer: Chin implant seems another wise choice besides rhinoplasty. The pictures are very helpful. It is a good decision to have your nose done, and I think an equally beneficial change would be to improve your chin’sprojection. The neck jawline is notideal, and therefore you may also want to consider neck sculpture procedure. Each surgeon has his own variation of theprocedure, but typically it is done through a hidden horizontal incision underthe chin with removal of some extra fat and tightening of the neck muscles. Combination of chin augmentation and necksculpture can be very powerful and so be sure to look for those on the variouswebsites that you are visiting. You will want to do a lot of homeworkbefore your consultations. Thoseconsultations should be with somebody who is very experienced with the variousprocedures that you are considering having. You will get an idea from visiting the various doctors’ websites. Study the before and after photographs. Read the patient reviews. When you go for your consultation, besure to have computer imaging. Aconsultation without computer imaging does not have much value because you andthe doctor need to have a very frank exchange about what you would like to haveand what he or she can do to satisfy you. The best way is to see the envisioned result on a computer screen. Before consultation write out your listof questions and bring them with you so that nothing is forgotten. Take time to have consultations. It is your choice how many to have, buttypically two to three consultations should be done in my opinion for yoursituation where there are several procedures that are being considered. You need to look at which procedures will bethe most powerful. Likewise, you need tolook at cost issues and even recovery time. Answer: Rhinoplasty and chin implant candidate The profile photographs demonstrate an overly projecting nose with a dorsal hump, and a weak, recessive chin profile. A closed rhinoplasty procedure can accomplish shaving down the dorsal hump, straightening the nose, decreasing the overall projection and straightening the bridge line. A Silastic chin implant can be inserted through a small incision underneath the chin to help iwth facial balance and proportions, especially with respect to the overly projecting nose. Chin implants are manufactured in a large variety of sizes and shapes, and can be custom carved when needed. The chin implant procedure and rhinoplasty can both be performed under general anesthesia as an outpatient surgical procedure. Answer: Rhinoplasty plus chin implant Congratulations on making your decision regarding surgery. Creating harmony in the facial features as a whole can certainly improve overall results, and augmenting the chin is frequently done at the same time or following rhinoplasty surgery. Depending on your bite or occlusion (how your teeth come together) options may include jaw surgery, sliding the bone at the end of the chin forward and down, or simply adding a chin implant. Augmenting the soft tissue with fat injections or fillers can also further refine the look or be used to treat mild cases. I personally appreciate the expertise of my Oral MaxilloFacial Surgeon colleagues in evaluating and advising patients as to their full range of options. I think your tattoo adds definition to your lateral jawline so while certainly not right for everyone, the placement works in your favor.Best of luck,
