Hello, I'm having breast lift with implants the Dr that I went to only does the polyurethane silimed, is it safe? I'm a little nervous. My surgery will be in 2 months and i already paid for my surgery.
Answer: Polyurethane implants I doubt your surgeon is using polyurethane implants as I am not aware they are approved here in the U.S. You should contact your doctor's office to find out before your surgery. Today's silicone implants have warranties in case of rupture or capsular contracture, I am not sure if you have any recourse if you develop a problem with polyurethane implants.

Answer: Bellesoma Method Unfortunately, you have not provided photographs or told us your bra size. I would not recommend polyurethane implants. However, the most important aspect of your surgery is the breast lift. The technique I recommend is The Bellesoma Method. This will reshape your breast tissue creating upper pole fullness without implants, elevate them higher on the chest wall and more medial to increase your cleavage. Vertical scars are avoided, nipple sensation (in 95%) and the ability to breast feed are maintained. Later, fat transfers can be performed if additional volume is desired. Best Wishes, Gary Horndeski, M.D.

Answer: Breast implants Polyurethane implants were used for several years to reduce the incidence of capsular contracture. As far as I know polyurethane coated implant are not approved for use in the United States. You should call your surgeon. This may be a case of confusion over what you were told. They may have meant silicone textured implants, not polyurethane.

Answer: Polyurethane? So, to my knowledge polyurethane has been not FDA-approved for some time. Silimed makes them and they are used outside the US. In the US, Silimed’s other implant technology was used, or licensed, or something in the sale of Sientra implants, but they were not polyurethane. Sientra declared bankruptcy but was bought by Tiger Aesthetics. I was just at the Texas Society meeting and Tiger has a booth. But unless I missed something, polyurethane is not FDA-approved in the US currently.
