Three days after lower facelift and skin 'loose' and 'jiggly'.

Question

I just had lower facelift three days ago and things are going well with incisions and healing, I am still a bit puffy and swollen. I took the face wrap off today and am really starting to worry that my surgeon did not remove enough skin. The skin along my cheeks feels a little bit lax and 'jiggly'. Almost the same as it did before surgery. Will this only get worse as my swelling goes down? Or is it too soon and is this a normal phase of healing and will the skin tighten? I am 36.

It seems that you're unhappy with your recovery. To answer your one question, usually loose skin afterwards is not common. It is a known complication that can occur after a neck lift or face lift procedure however. Small skin excess or puckers usually resolve on their own. If it does not settle, you can undergo correction with aspiration or with additional surgery.  I would recommend that you see a board-certified plastic surgeon in your area that is a member of both ASPS & ASAPS and performs a lot of facelifts if you want a second opinion and of course, make sure you follow up with your own surgeon and talk about this. I hope this helps and wish you all the best in your surgery and event. Thank you for your question.  3 days post op is definitely too early to tell what your end results will be like.  You still have a lot of bruising, swelling, lumps and bumps which will settle.  Please do give it time.  If you are really concerned do make a follow up with your surgeon and express your worries.  All The Best

3 days after a Facelift is definitely too soon to judge your results.  Swelling, bruising, lumps and bumps and areas of irregularity are the norm rather than the exception in recovery.   What you're perceiving as loose skin may be entirely normal.   Give yourself some time to heal and see your surgeon in follow up to address any concerns you have.

It is too early to worry. Give your face time for the swelling to go down and then discuss your thoughts with your surgeon. Many times once the swelling goes down, the face looks much better. Time is your friend!
