Hello, I had a bilateral breast augmentation and breast lift, and am looking for the best massage techniques to use. I was not given a post op strap to wear because was told due to the lift it would put too much pressure on the type of scar I have. A lot of massage techniques I am seeing say to press down at the top and hold. I am unsure if I should do that since that seems kind of like what the strap I was told not to get would do. Are there any techniques specifically for implant AND lift?
Answer: Massage I would suggest calling your surgeon's office and ask to speak to his/her nurse. Massage depends upon what type of implant was used and how the lift was done.

Answer: Massage techniques Thank you for your question and I hope I can help. Most importantly, listen to your surgeons recommendations as only he/she knows exactly what was done in the operating room and if certain maneuvers are safe. The purpose of a post augmentation massage is to try to decrease the incidence of capsular contracture ( excessive scar tissue forming around the implant). Current recommendations support gently pushing the implant up and separately towards the sternum 10 times, performing these maneuvers three times daily. If there is any concern about wound healing or implant malposition this can be modified. Good luck.

Answer: Postoperative protocol Dear Polite734921, I understand your concern. It is best that you consult your plastic surgeon regarding post operative care and management (i.e including massage techniques and timing) specific to your case. Your surgeon knows your condition well and has preferences on when and what to use for faster healing and recovery. Post operative care and management depends on the type of surgery performed and the technique used during surgery among other factors. It is best, however, that you follow your plastic surgeon's advice on post operative care management for a smooth and faster healing and recovery. Answer: Breast surgery I am sure you can find YouTube videos demonstrating how to massage implants after surgery. There are probably several techniques. A study several years ago showed massaging implants did not reduce capsule rate, but no harm in doing it.

Answer: Post Breast Augmentation and Breast Lift massage techniques? Massage techniques after breast augmentation and breast lift surgery can help promote healing, reduce swelling, and improve the overall aesthetic outcome. However, it's crucial to follow your plastic surgeon's specific instructions regarding post-operative care, including when to start and how to perform massages, as these recommendations may vary depending on individual circumstances and surgical techniques. Here are some general massage techniques that may be recommended after breast augmentation and breast lift surgery:1. Gentle compression massage: Lightly compress the breast implants or breast tissue using your fingertips. Start at the top of the breast and move downward in a circular motion. This can help to reduce swelling and promote natural settling of the implants.2. Scar massage: Once the incisions have healed sufficiently, typically several weeks after surgery, you can begin massaging the scars to help soften and flatten them. Use a gentle, circular motion with your fingertips or a silicone scar gel or cream to facilitate healing.3. Implant displacement exercises: Your plastic surgeon may recommend specific exercises to help the implants settle into the desired position and prevent capsular contracture (hardening of the scar tissue around the implants). These exercises typically involve gently pushing or massaging the implants upward, downward, and toward the sides of the chest.4. Lymphatic drainage massage: Gentle lymphatic drainage massage techniques can help reduce swelling and promote fluid drainage after surgery. Lightly stroke the breast tissue in the direction of lymphatic flow, starting from the outer edges of the breast and moving toward the armpit.5. Breast tissue mobilization: Your plastic surgeon may recommend gentle manipulation or mobilization of the breast tissue to prevent stiffness and encourage a natural, soft appearance. This may involve gently lifting and shifting the breast tissue in different directions.6. Breast support: Wearing a supportive bra or compression garment as recommended by your plastic surgeon can help maintain proper positioning of the implants and support the healing process. Make sure the bra is not too tight to avoid excessive pressure on the surgical sites.Always consult with your plastic surgeon before starting any massage techniques after breast augmentation and breast lift surgery. They can provide guidance based on your individual needs and ensure that you're following the appropriate protocol for your specific procedure and recovery timeline. Additionally, if you experience any unusual pain, discomfort, or complications during or after massage therapy, be sure to contact your plastic surgeon promptly for further evaluation and guidance.
