Post Breast Augmentation and Breast Lift massage techniques?

Question

Hello, I had a bilateral breast augmentation and breast lift, and am looking for the best massage techniques to use. I was not given a post op strap to wear because was told due to the lift it would put too much pressure on the type of scar I have. A lot of massage techniques I am seeing say to press down at the top and hold. I am unsure if I should do that since that seems kind of like what the strap I was told not to get would do. Are there any techniques specifically for implant AND lift?

Thank you for your question and I hope I can help. Most importantly, listen to your surgeons recommendations as only he/she knows exactly what was done in the operating room and if certain maneuvers are safe. The purpose of a post augmentation massage is to try to decrease the incidence of capsular contracture ( excessive scar tissue forming around the implant). Current recommendations support gently pushing the implant up and separately towards the sternum 10 times, performing these maneuvers three times daily. If there is any concern about wound healing or implant malposition this can be modified. Good luck.

I understand your concern. It is best that you consult your plastic surgeon regarding post operative care and management (i.e including massage techniques and timing) specific to your case. Your surgeon knows your condition well and has preferences on when and what to use for faster healing and recovery. Post operative care and management depends on the type of surgery performed and the technique used during surgery among other factors.It is best, however, that you follow your plastic surgeon's advice on post operative care management for a smooth and faster healing and recovery.

I am sure you can find YouTube videos demonstrating how to massage implants after surgery. There are probably several techniques. A study several years ago showed massaging implants did not reduce capsule rate, but no harm in doing it.
