Can I get a breast reduction if I have diastolic dysfunction, sickle cell disease and asthma?

Can I get a breast reduction if my TEE complete shows that I have grade I (mild) diastolic dysfunction? I also have sickle cell disease and asthma. I've already been cleared for the breast reduction by my PCP, Pulmonary, oncologist, and now waiting on my cardiologist. My oncologist said he will give me a blood transfusion the day before the surgery.

Hello @LadyPearl429, thank you for your question. The most important thing is to get clearances from all relevant specialties to ensure the safety of the procedure. In cases like yours, communication between your specialists is crucial. The anesthesiologist and the surgical team need to be well aware of your medical history and potential risks to adequately prepare and adjust their perioperative plans. If you are medically cleared and stable, and will receive blood the day prior, You should be able to have surgery. I would suggest spending the night to be safe.

With your complex medical history you are at a higher risk for surgery.  I encourage you to meet with board certified plastic surgeons in your area for a consultation.  If your surgeon feels you are a candidate she/he will need to coordinate with the anesthesiologist and possibly your specialists to create a surgical plan for you.

Hello, thank you for sharing your question, in the case of the patient with multiple pathologies, for this particular procedure and case, we use laser to reduce blood loss and the expected bleeding would be approx. 100 cc which would not require a transfusion depending on the pre-surgical blood levels and this would improve its prognosis and results. I hope you consider this opinion
