BA behind the muscle/cyst removal/residual capsule removal/future breast screening I would like re augmentation having explanted in Aug '19 due to CC. I had fat transferred to my breasts in Jan '20 but it's pretty much all gone and I'm left with painful cysts that I would like removed along with any residual capsule at the same time at BA. Is this possible? 42 year old active mum in Kent, UK. Also, i would like as quick and pain free recovery as possible.
Answer: Implant placement Dear minkymonkey, I almost always place implants submuscular. It lowers the rate of capsular contracture significantly. In addition, it looks much more natural because the muscle provides covering over the implant so its not as round on the top. I've also noticed the implants drop less over time when they are protected under the muscle. Answer: Breast implants and screening Thanks for your question. Submuscular breast augmentation does tend to interfere with screening less than subglandular implants - nevertheless specific mammographic views are required called Eklund views to enable complete imaging of your breast tissue and that the implant is not obstructing this. Removal of your all of your cysts from fat grafting, and any residual capsule, may be challenging if the cysts are multiple and in the glandular tissue of the breast (the only way to do this may be to remove a significant amount of breast tissue which may not be the best thing for you, unless they are causing significant problems).

Answer: Capsular contracture HelloThank you for the question. It’s difficult to address your issues without physical examination. Capsular contracture is multi factorial, if you had CC with the implant behind the muscle, the chance of it happening again is high.Kind regards

Answer: Implants The cysts may not be able to be removed, and may not all be related to the fat. Also, there may not be much capsule ;left to be removed now. The implants are placed behind the breasts and can also be placed behind the muscle which is behind the upper inner part of your breasts. therefore, any imaging of the breast is not restricted by implants.

Answer: Does implant placement behind the muscle allow for full breast screening? Yes, implant placement behind the muscle allows for full breast screening. This is because the implant is less likely to obscure the view of the breast tissue on a mammogram. Additionally, implants placed behind the muscle are less likely to cause rippling or wrinkles on the skin surface.
