Hello, thank you for your question. It is uncommon to have pain around the incision 6 months post op. If the pain is gradually improving then it can mean that the scar tissue is maturing and softening up. Certainly wear a good supportive bra, this can relieve some of the pressure sensation from the implants possibly putting pressure on your incision scar. Underwire bras are ok to wear along with sports bras. See what works best for you and is the most comfortable.
Hi & thanks for your question!Reach out to your surgeon for an appointment. He or she can examine the scars and give you guidance on reducing the irritation/pain ,and help you choose the the best bra. Best wishes!
No it is not common for your scars to be painful at 6 months post op. I encourage you to meet with your surgeon for an examination. If you feel your bra is the culprit you may want to consider a professional bra fitting. Many of the larger department stores and lingerie boutiques offer them.
Dear courtneylynn903, I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment, it would be difficult to determine what went wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper recommendations and advice.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
No, it is not normal for your scars to still be painful. Some might be tender at times at 6 months. I would suggest discussing this with your surgeon. Kenalog injections might be helpful. Do wear a good supporting bra while exercising. Depending upon what kind and what size of implants you have, your surgeon can guide you to a good day bra.
Hi and welcome to our forum!Hypersensitive healing scars following inframammary incision breast augmentation is not uncommon. Irritation from an ill-fitting bra can be the causative agent. A neuroma in the dissection plane of surgery is possible. Thick hypertrophic scarring can be painful. Stay away from underwire bras until healing is complete (may take 12 months or so). Pad your bra to minimize irritation. Revisit your plastic surgeon for evaluation and discussion if the pain interferes with your activities of daily living. There are modalities available to alleviate postoperative discomfort.Best wishes...
In some of our breast surgery patients, it takes a longer time for the surgical scar to mature. This may take as long as 1,5 years. To quicken the time you could use silicone tapes on your scars, which would soften them. If you have a hypertrophic scar or keloid, other methods such as steroid injection may releave the pain and itchiness of the scar.
