Paying for surgery in physical cash, is there any risk?

My operation is next month and I’ve been asked to pay the full amount upfront in cash only (no debit card or credit card). I have no problem paying in physical cash but wondered is there any risk in doing so?

Most plastic surgeon's policy is to have the fee paid prior to surgery. There should be no risk paying with cash. Make sure to get a receipt! Best wishes.

There is nothing wrong with paying for your cosmetic procedure in cash, but I would definitely discuss surgeon's revision policy so that you are familiar with it as well.
I would recommend to obtain an in person consultation with a Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon to further discuss your options and expectations for best cosmetic results.

Hello, thank you for your question. Cash is still accepted everywhere and is sometimes the preferred method for most people. Of course they should give a receipt and state that they have received the total amount in full. I wouldn't be suspicious unless you have other inclinations to think otherwise. Out clinic accepts credit, cash and now accepting bit coin.

Your surgeon may be tired of the fees charged by debit and credit cards and asked for cash payment. As long as you are not mugged going from the bank to your surgeon's office, there should be no risk to you. Do get a receipt that day for payment.

In most of the countries, doctors or hospital welcome patient who pay in cash because it is easier to pay the expenses and the salaries and you can avoid bank commissions. In developing countries and 3rd world countries this is also used to avoid tax or schedule the tax payment time according to your suits. In your cases these things would not matter for you. BUT the institution should be a legitimate one otherwise you can get scammed. You should check your doctors board memberships or diplomas from the associated board's website (european american or arab boards), and other means (for example in Turkey we have a list of international health tourism certificates in governments official website) , and you should not pay anything before you see the doctor yourself. Some agencies especially in middle eastern countries might scam you, and give you an alternative doctor, or may take your money and disappear. You can request the pay a small part (say 10%) with SWIFT and pay the rest of the money as cash.
