Hello Everyone! I’m planning on getting silicone implants and I am currently a 32d and going for 32dd.
Answer: Cup size and implant size There are a number of variables that determine the correct implant size to use on a given patient. There is no direct correlation between implant volume and cup size, as this will vary from patient to patient. I instruct my patients to focus on how they want their breasts to look and avoid the anxiety over implant size and selection...that is the responsibility of an experienced surgeon.

Answer: Bra Cups and Implant Volume Hello,There is no correlation between cups and implants, so my suggestion is choose another way to determine and communicate your goals. The best way is to size in the office using an unpadded bra, sizers/implants, and a few favorite tops. You can then determine what looks good in the mirror, much more important information than bra sizes. Best of luck!

Answer: Implant size and type Dear tishaleib22,breast implant type and sizing selection is a complicated process and requires a detailed consultation that includes a discussion of your goals, a detailed examination, and a lengthy discussion. But the decision will always start and end with the patient. When it comes to sizing, we have all of our patients find 3 photos of their desired breast size. We ask for naked breast photos because clothing can obscure the true size (push up bras). Next, we consult with patients and go over the photos and take detailed breast measurements during a physical exam. Next, we using a sizing algorithm to determine a range of implants that will work based on the exam and the measurements.Lastly, during the operation, we use silicone sizers in the operating room to see how the size actually looks in the breast. We sit the patient up in the operating room, while asleep of course, and compare the sizer result with their desired look photos. If it is too small, we start the process over with a slightly larger implant. We don't stop until we get the perfect match.Of all of my breast augmentation patients, every one of them has been happy with their size due to this detailed and meticulous process. You don't want to invest time and money into a result that is either too big or too small. You should discuss your concerns with a board-certified plastic surgeon and make sure that your surgeon understands your goals.Daniel Barrett, MD Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery

Answer: Breast augmentation, 32DD Hello and thank you for your question. The best advice you can receive is from an in-person consultation. The size, profile, and shape of the implant is based on your desired breast size/shape, your chest wall measurements, and soft tissue quality. This decision should be based on a detailed discussion with equal input from both you and your surgeon. Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results. The most important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate you in person. Best wishes and good luck. Richard G. Reish, M.D. FACS Harvard-trained plastic surgeon

Answer: Cup size Hi tishaleib22,That is a great question, but unfortunately one that has limitations. Each manufacturer makes cup size a little different. For instance, Victoria Secret is notorious for making bras that say a larger cup size for the same woman who would get fitted at a lingerie shop. In general I ask my patients to focus on the desired look and let your plastic surgeon help you decide the right implant. If you want to experiment at home with volume changes, I will frequently refer patients to something called a "Rice Test". The Rice Test is a simple, at home activity that helps to give you an idea of how you will look with different sized breast implants. Breast implant volumes are measured in cubic centimeters (cc’s). The rice test will help you become familiar with these volume measurements and how they might look on your unique frame. Below, are simple instructions for making “rice sizers” for the Rice Test. Place these sizers inside your sports bra and begin to get an idea of how your breast augmentation will enhance your figure. To make your rice sizers: - Cut a 12 inch length of pantyhose (do not use the foot portion).- Tie a knot at one end. - Fill the length with rice according to this ratio (.106 cups of rice, equals 25cc of silicone implant).Ex/ 250cc implant would need 1.06 cups of rice to simulate this size. I hope that help!Best,Dr. B
