I’m getting a BL with implants at the beginning of July, and have a wedding to attend in Romania at the end of August. It’s a formal wedding and I was hoping I’d get away with wearing a well fitted corset dress (supportive and firm bust). Scar tape/ lining on the incision area to prevent rubbing. Straps on the dress to hold the girls up. Do you think I will be okay?
Answer: Ask your surgeon It would be best to ask your surgeon about this since each surgeon has their own post-op care instructions. It also depends on how your recovery goes.

Answer: Taking a break from a bra Yes you should be fine to take a break from the bra two months after surgery. From your description the breasts will be supported with your corset from the gown in any case. It is always best to check with your surgeon before proceeding.

Answer: Can I take a break from a bra for a formal event? By the end of August, you'll be about 7-8 weeks post-op from your breast lift with implants, which is typically when many surgeons allow patients to transition away from a surgical bra to regular bras or more supportive garments. Since you're considering a well-fitted corset dress with straps, you may be okay for the event—but here are some things to keep in mind: Why It Might Be Okay • Supportive Structure – A structured corset-style dress with straps can provide decent support, similar to a bra. • Healing Timeline – At 7-8 weeks, many patients can tolerate short periods without a surgical bra. • Scar Protection – Using scar tape or silicone strips can help minimize friction on incisions. Potential Risks to Consider • Swelling & Sensitivity – Some women still experience swelling or sensitivity, and a tight corset may be uncomfortable. • Compression Differences – A surgical bra provides more even compression than a corset, which may put pressure in different areas. • Strain on Incisions – Even with tape, if the dress compresses or rubs against fresh scars, it could irritate them. Tips for Success ✔ Test It Before the Wedding – Wear the dress around the house for a few hours to see how your chest feels. ✔ Bring a Backup Bra – Consider a low-cut, supportive option (like a longline bra) in case you need extra support. ✔ Check with Your Surgeon – Since every surgeon has different post-op protocols, get their opinion before committing. ✔ Listen to Your Body – If you feel discomfort or strain, consider alternative options. You might be fine, but check with your surgeon and make sure the dress offers adequate support without irritating your incisions!
