Pubic area swollen & sore after tummy tuck

The binder or compression garments push the swelling out the belly and in to that area.  It is hard to get compression on that area, this will continue to go down. The problem is if you wear a girdle or compression that is too tight, it can affect the blood supply to the belly as it is healing. If you can rest as much as possible for the next couple days, the pain should decrease after the drains come out. Good luck with recovery.

Swelling is common and expected in this phase of recovery. Check to make sure your binder is not too tight. I encourage you to also follow up with your surgeon as she/he is most familiar with the details of your surgery and how you've been progressing through recovery.

Use of a properly fitted compression garment will help decrease the length and severity of the post-operative swelling. As the swelling decreases, the contour of your pubic region, abdomen, and flanks will dramatically improve.
