The toxic dose for botulism is well over 1000 units.... We typically use no more 60units per patient per time. The effects are not cumulitive as the toxin is metabolized and leaves the body completely after 3-5months. There are some conditions myasthenia gravis and other medical conditions that if you have should consult with your physician about- otherwise there's no need to worry!hope this helps and God Bless!Dr. Robb
Thanks for your question. The genuine products do not have any live bacteria and thus getting botulism is basically impossible as long as you are doing this with a reputable medical professional. Avoiding heat, exercise, bending down and laying down should minimize the risks of the product moving.
Thank you for your question. Your concern is one that I will hear from my patients at times. While any injectable drug always carries risk, I would not say that you are at any greater risk from having 20 units of Dysport injected. Dysport, in my experience, is very safe and does not 'spread' outside the muscle in which it is injected. If your provider is board certified, and has experience with injecting Dysport, my thought is that you should start to see results within two weeks. You should see a softening of your forehead lines and wrinkles. I would discuss your concerns with your injector, as well, as he/she knows exactly what was performed at your treatment. I hope that this helps!-David Gilpin
Please understand that the list of risks on most medication labels is exhaustive for the sake of risk management. I would place your risk of clinical botulism from 20 u of Dysport at a click north of zero.
No, you will not get botulism from your Dysport injections and it won't spread after injection. Keep in mind, you may have some swelling after your procedure, which is typical and will resolve in 1-2 weeks. Best, Dr. Emer
It is highly unlikely that you will develop Botulism from injections of Dyspot. I would recommend having a consultation with a reputable, board certified plastic surgeon to discuss your options and concerns.
20 units of disport is a TINY dose. It is unlikely to give you any effect, let alone a botulism effect. Cosmetic botox is diluted many thousands of times below dangerous levels. In fact a dose that ideally should not be exceeded is around 600-800 deposit units. You are safe with 20Hope that helpsAdam Goodwin
Dear Lisa Please don't worryThere is no risk at all of this happening.Kind RegardsDr Maini
I often tell patients that Botox and Dysport injections are some of the safest procedures I perform in my clinic. The risk of botulism after these cosmetic treatments is negligible. I would not worry about this.
Thank you for your inquiry. If performed by a board certified plastic surgeon, you have no need to worry. If this is your first time, 20 units is a great start. You will start noticing results after 2 - 3 days to a maximum of 14 days for full effect. Best of Luck !
It is very weird to have any signs of a dysport injection days after, other than either a small bruise at the injection site. If there is swelling, tenderness, and redness, there may be an infection or an allergic reaction. I would continue to treat with abtibiotics, and allergy...
It is safe to get Dysport injections while taking Lexapro. As far as I know, there have been no reported interactions or adverse effects.
The short answer is that we are able to raise the corners of the mouth with Botox or Dysport by small injections of the product to the depressor anguli oris muscles on the right and left sides. This muscle pulls the corners of the mouth down (simulating a frown); therefore, Botox or Dysport to ...
