Shaped implants are Silicone. In my practice, about 15-20% of the patients are good candidates for silicone #shapedimplants.
Hello,Tear drop implants don't have a particular look. This is a misconception of what they can and can't provide. If you want a natural look, I do not recommend saline implants. In fact, I do not recommend saline implants to anyone; they are the lowest performing devices with the highest complication rates of all implants. You should explore your options with silicone gel or better yet, highly cohesive, form stable silicone gel implants with a few surgeons that are both certified by the ABPS and members of the ASAPS.Best of luck!
Hello,Placing a round implant part-way under the muscle can give the appearance of a teardrop shaped implant which looks and moves naturally, like a real breast. Your measurements, existing breast tissue and preferences will help your Plastic Surgeon make recommendations and plan with you.All the best
The goal of breast augmentation is to create an aesthetic breast with the size, shape, and projection that is desired by the patient. During a breast augmentation consultation, measurements of the breasts are used as a starting point to recommend a breast implant. For more info, see the link below. The decision on size, shape, and position of these implants is based on the patient’s anatomy, the type and size of the implant, and patients preferences. The creation of a tear drop or "natural" shape to the breast is influenced more by the position of the implants and the amount and quality of the surrounding tissue and less by the filling of the implant - saline or silicone.A detailed examination will help delineate the best surgical treatment. In office sizing and digital three-dimensional computer simulations can help guide your implant choices. Consultation with a plastic surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery would be the next best step.
Implants will look different on different bodies. It is possible to get a fairly natural tear drop look with saline so long as you have a starting point that favors a tear drop shape and you use a conservatively sized implant. Visiting a board certified plastic surgeon who does a lot of breast augmentation would be your first step. In my practice I find that 3D imaging is an amazing tool to discuss shape related questions.
Hello, if the selected implants are not disproportionately large and they are covered with ample breast tissue, the look can be very natural and tear drop shaped. On the other hand, relatively large implants inserted into small breasts are more likely to look very full up top.
Thank you for your question.Iwill tell you that achieving a ‘treat drop look’ with saline is much harderbecause the saline is really just a bag of water that acquires around the shapeof the original breast. For instance, ifyou have enough breast tissue, then the saline implant would simply augmentthat natural shape of the breast and give that look you desire.I hope this helps!
It can be very difficult to create a “tear drop look” with a salineimplant.Because saline implants arereally nothing more than water in a silicone bag, they have a tendency to takeon the shape of the original breast tissue, augmenting that natural shaperather than significantly altering it.
Creating a natural/tear drop shape can be achieved with a saline implant , but the implant would need to be placed under the muscle, should be of conservative size, and not over filled. You would also need to have a moderate amount of existing breast tissue.
Dear mumofkai,There are many factors that come into play to effect the ultimate shape of the breast following a breast augmentation. One is the natural shape and amount of your breast tissue because this has a strong influence the ultimate post operative appearance. Another is the position of the implant. When placing them below the muscle, the muscle will serve to flatten the upper pole a bit creating more of a teardrop shape as compared to a more rounded or artificial appearance if the implant is above the muscle. The volume and profile of the implant also has an effect on the ultimate shape with a larger and higher profile implant having a less natural slope to the upper pole than a smaller less projecting implant. Round saline implants are more firm and projecting than the equivalent silicone implant so while you can still have a tear dropped appearance when placed under the muscle if they are not excessively larger, the equivalent silicone implant might look more natural when compared side by side. An anatomic or tear drop shaped silicone implant will potentially have an even more gentle slope superiorly with more projection inferiorly, again adding more of a tear drop shape. So ultimately a larger higher profile saline implant above the muscle would be your worst choice, and a smaller less projecting silicone implant under the muscle would be the most natural. An anatomic implant may not be as soft as a round, but it might have more influence in creating a tear drop shape.Best of luck,
From your photographs, it appears you're an excellent candidate for a breast augmentation procedure. With your goal photographs, it seems a moderate profile implant will best suit your aesthetic goals. Any implant that is too small can look just as fake as an implant that is too big. Keep in...
Hello,At this point you will still have a little firmness and asymmetry which will likely settle. As Implants drop and fluff, the volume shifts downward to fill out the lower pole of the breast more fully. I recommend that you allow at least 6 months to evaluate your results. All the best
Hello,My patients usually find it most useful to try on the implant sizers in office with a form-fitting T-Shirt. The difference between 420 and 460 is not huge. Often, my patients are happy that they chose a slightly larger size once healed, however they way you feel about them when you try...
