Can Botox in platysma bands cause snoring?

In general, snoring is a multifactorial problem. Generally it is related to the size and position of the back of your tongue in relationship to your soft palate. Snoring can also be related to excess fatty deposits in your neck or to your dental occlusion. The platysma muscle is a superficial muscle in the neck that is considered one of the muscles of facial expression. Neuromuscular paralysis of platisma bands should not affect snoring, in my opinion. This is a very rare side affect and can take up to 3-6 months for the muscle to regain normal movement. I would recommend following up with your certified injector.

Botox used to treat the platysmal bands should not lead to snoring. Snoring can be related to many factors including sleep apnea, deviated septum, and enlarged tonsils to name a few. Contact your primary care physician if the snoring persists.
