Hi everyone! I’m having my procedure in less than 2 weeks. I’m 5'2" and 133 pounds, and I’m deciding between 300 or 325 cc implants (currently an A cup). I’ll be following the 24-hour recovery method, and my doctor told me I could go back to work in 4 days. I’m a full-time nanny, and I take care of a 30-pound child who isn’t walking yet. Does anyone have thoughts or experiences with this? My doctor was confident I could return to work.
Answer: Lifting Post op Hello, you will likely be able to return to work but it is recommend to avoid lifting, pushing, pulling anything over 25lbs for the first three weeks. With that being said children are an exception as we have to care for our children. If you are needing to lift the child I suggest using more of your legs when lifting and not lifting straight from the ground. Listen to your body and if something does not feel comfortable avoid that movement. Make sure the child in careful around your breast area. Avoid vigorous activity for the first 3 weeks. As always consult with your surgeon because each surgeon may have different guidelines. All the best, Dr. Joe

Answer: Discuss with surgeon Will you need to carry the child you care for after surgery? If yes, you would probably need to take time off work for more than 4 days, regardless of whether your surgery is “24 hour recovery” or not. Please discuss this with your surgeon.

Answer: Postoperative protocol Dear karinneps, I understand your concern. It is best that you consult your plastic surgeon regarding post operative care and management (i.e including massage techniques and timing) specific to your case. Your surgeon knows your condition well and has preferences on when and what to use for faster healing and recovery. Post operative care and management depends on the type of surgery performed and the technique used during surgery among other factors. It is best, however, that you follow your plastic surgeon's advice on post operative care management for a smooth and faster healing and recovery. Answer: Always best to follow your surgeon's protocol and in my experience... I advise patients that they can lift their children to transfer to high chair, car seat or crib by the third day after surgery. They should wait 2 weeks before carrying them all day. More than 90% of my patients tell me they return to an office setting by the 5th day after surgery. Dr. Ted Eisenberg, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon and Author. Answer: When I return to work Hello, thank you for your question. Our patients here in my office with the fast recovery seem to heal quickly and are able to go back to work within 4 days. I am not sure what the regiment of medications are that your Dr has you on or if they are able to give you the experal. The experal is an extended release of pain meds for 72 hours after surgery.
