How often should I get my seromas drained? 1 week post breast lift.

Question

I had a breast lift last week using the anchor scar technique and developed seromas below each armpit. They've been drained once, and the surgeon said they may come back, which they did the next day. How often should I be going back to have the seromas drained? I feel silly calling every other day.

Dear BustyInBeantown,
there is no straight forward answer. In some cases, seroma will form within a few hours and sometimes weeks can pass before a significant amount of fluid is accumulated. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper recommendations and advice.

It depends on the amount of seroma and how the wounds are healing. Every PS will give different advice and best to keep in contact with your PS. If you have pain and increased swelling or any discharge / wound issues contact your PS and please don't feel silly about doing so. They would want to know and support you.
