Would a breast lift allow me to go braless?

Question

Strapless are very uncomfortable. I can't wear a bra with straps due to neck pain. I have large breasts & also chronic neck & shoulder pain, which I believe is unrelated; more job/computer related. I haven't been able to wear a bra with straps for decades; I have worn only strapless bras. But they are extremely uncomfortable and fall down all the time. Even sports bras are too painful for my neck. When I am at home, I am always braless. I realize bras are recommended after a breast lift, but given my situation, would I benefit from a breast lift and could I go braless after?

The technique I recommend is The Bellesoma Method. This will reshape your breast tissue creating upper pole fullness without implants, elevate them higher on the chest wall and more medial to increase your cleavage. The weight of the breast is transferred to the underlying pectoralis major muscle resulting in pain relief and long term stability. Vertical scars are avoided, nipple sensation (in 95%) and the ability to breast feed are maintained.

Going brakes after a lift could cause future sagging. But you should be able to wear a bra much more comfortably.

Dear bethtirado,
my preferred lift is a lollipop lift when a periareolar won't do (ie greater than 2cm lift required). The lollipop technique was created by a Canadian plastic surgeon named Elizabeth Hall-Findley and treats the breast as a three dimensional structure instead of two dimensions (anchor - lift). Most importantly it does not require the horizontal component scars that the anchor-lift requires and breasts appear much more natural, lifted, and less boxy. Lastly, the lift lasts longer because the lollipop doesn't rely on the skin to hold the breast up, its actually breast tissue thats being brought together to support the breast and hence improves longevity. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will et more information and recommendations.

Even though you did not show photos, I suspect your problem is not the bra straps, but rather you have breasts that are too heavy for your neck and shoulders. A breast reduction, which includes a lift, would probably be a better choice. If you go down to a comfortable size, you might find you even  like bras.

Well, depends how long you want the result to last, and how large you are. The smaller you go, obviously it would be easier to go braless. Otherwise, droop will occur, because you are still fighting gravity. Many people feel bra wearing, even at night prevents ptosis. Other factors are stomach sleeping, weight gain and loss, and genetic factors. Overall, if you remain a large size and go braless the droop will probably occur.  I have had the best success at long term "perkiness" with smaller sizes and use of Galatea mesh to form an internal bra of scar tissue.

Dear Btirado,
A breast lift will certainly elevate your breasts and make the both look better and fit in bras more readily, but going bra less fit extended periods of time especially with larger heavier breasts will allow them to stretch and sag faster.
