Will Hyaluronidase fix a puffy/overhanging upper lip that developed after receiving Revanesse Versa injection? Help (Photo)

Longterm filler problems include migration, edema, and nodularity. Filler migration and permanence is a very common problem because there are many different types of HA fillers on the market and each is specified for a specific part of the face. Use of highly cohesive fillers on thin skin may cause swelling and nodularity. If patients have filler migration or nodules, we recommend a combination approach of filler reversal with enzymes Hylenex and Hyaluronidase in different strengths to dissolve the filler. We may also need to add Kenalog to the mix in order to reduce fibrous tissue. If the filler does not dissolve, it either means the filler is not HA material or we need more enzyme. The HA reversal can be combined with other lasers and skin treatments at the same time, and it usually (usually) does not affect adjacent tissue.

Revanesse Versa is a great hyaluronic acid product. It is often used for lips, teardrops and nasolabial folds. Sensitive It is easily reversed with hyaluronidase. You should not have a problem at all. All the best, Dr. Onir

Thanks for your question. The answer is yes, hyaluronidase will reverse/dissolve any hyaluronic acid filler. It may take more than one session but the result is quick so you can repeat it fairly quickly- within a week or two- if more is needed.

If you did get Revanesse Versa then yes it can be dissolved with hyaluronidase as it's an HA filler. It's not necessarily the filler that matters - though that's important too - but it's more about the injector and where the injections were placed. When injecting the lips, the natural shape of the lips should be followed and the bottom lip should be injected more than the top - so that you don't end up with a heavy, duck-like upper lip. So don't necessarily be afraid to get Versa again - but make sure your injector is well experienced with lip injections and is following the shape of your lips. Additionally, to get the filler out, make sure you see an experienced injector. Removing fillers is just as much an art as putting them in to begin with..
