Bruising/swelling and lumps after Juvederm lip injection. Should I be worried? (Photo)

Sometimes there may be some contour irregularities after injection.  This can be due to the product placement, bruising, or other issues.  You are very early in your post procedure course.  In our office, we usually wait 10 to 14 days before seeing a patient back as we know there will be swelling.  Swelling can be present for a while, even longer if there was any bruising.  Often contour irregularities can be smoothed out.  Please let your well trained, experienced injector know about your concerns. 

Thank you for your question. I am not able to see your photos.  Your still swollen after your filler injection and the swelling could last for another 1-2 weeks. Also, keep in mind that Juvaderm ultra plus will cause much more swelling then the other fillers. All of my patients apply an cold gel pack for several hours after their injection to help with the swelling. Discuss your concerns with your injector

Bruising and swelling can occur after lip injections.  As you just underwent treatment I strongly recommend following up with the person who provided your injections rather than turning to the Internet for opinions.

Thank you for your question. Swelling and bruising are common side effects of lip injections. If you are experiencing lumps I recommend contacting your injector to possibly have these areas assessed. If the dense areas are inflammation they will subside, it they are filler perhaps massaging them out would be an option. All the best, 

I always try to avoid being a monday morning quarterback when evaluating an injector's work. However, you do have more bruising than is typical. I would also say that your upper lip has far more volume than I would recommend. The bruising is likely contributing to some of the irregularity in your lip contour. That should settle within 7-10 days following the injection. If you still have lumps or irregularities they can be reduced with hyaluronidase. It looks like you either had a poor injection, or may have something causing swelling. I'd recommend you go to a plastic surgeon and ask them to evaluate you. I doubt it's anything permanent but you can certainly do better in terms of the skill of your injector.

Bruising and swelling are very common after lip injections.  If you went to someone who is reputable and who you trust I would go back to them to evaluate your lips and see what they have to say.  If you have lost faith I would recommend that you seek the opinion of an expert physician injector.

The injector appears to have done a poor job. I don't think it will get better. Wait 10 days and if no better, go someone else. Lips are a skill that needs an experienced injector.  I prefer Restylane Silk for lips.

It is common the get bruising after lip injections along with lumps that are likely from blood under the lip. These lumps and bruises will go away in the next days to a couple of weeks. Your injector should have told you that this was possible and reassured you. If your lips still have lumps after the healing process it may be filler, but if that is the case, your injector can dissolve them.
