A few month ago I noticed that a bump appeared on the right side of the bridge of my nose. It was not like this previously and the left side has remained the same. It feels hard like bone and slightly pointy. If anyone could explain this to me I would appreciate it! I'm concerned it could be serious since I have a strange medical history.

Answer: Bump on the nose As plastic surgeons, we commonly see patients with a bump in the area you show and describe. Most often these follow a traumatic event and/ or can occur as the nose grows. Given your strange medical history, you should see someone who is an expert in nasal surgery for an evaluation.

Answer: Bump on Nose Due to your medical history, I would recommend examination by a Otolaryngologist or a Facial Plastic Surgeon. They will be able to examine your nose inside and out, as well as the rest of your head and neck. The findings can then be correlated with your medical history. Should it be necessary, imaging studies can be ordered. The picture that you supplied is very blurry and does not show enough of the issue. Nonetheless, a complete examination would be needed.

Answer: A bump appeared on right side bridge of nose a few months ago. It feels hard like bone. Is this normal? It is relatively uncommon for a bump to appear on the side of the nose without a further cause such as trauma or injury. Over years there is some natural thinning of the skin over the bridge of your nose and in patients with thin naturally thin skin, this can uncover a bump. A bump is usually at the junction between the boney top third and the cartilage middle third of the nose, however there can also be skin lesions that lie superficial to the boney anatomy. I would be worthwhile to see a specialist in person to evaluate your nose further and develop a management plan based upon this assessment.
