Hi! Long story short: A year ago I had liposuction in the thighs to harvest fat for BBL. Unfortunately it went wrong: I think she took too much fat from the thighs especially from underneath the buttocks, leaving me with hanging buttock, deep buttock crease and asymmetrical thighs. I found also out that she put just 200ml in. I tried half year later at least to improve BBL, but also this went wrong. What can I do to improve my case? I feel very uncomfortable. I am in my early 20s.

Answer: Correcting poorly done Liposuction Correcting poorly done Liposuction is difficult and sometimes not possible. This is especially true for patients who have been over treated. Treatment options typically come down to revision Liposuction, fat transfer or converting this to a skin tightening procedure like a thigh lift/tummy tuck etc. Taking a smooth even surfaces and leaving it smooth and even from Liposuction is hard enough. To take an uneven contour and making it even from Liposuction is many times more difficult. In regards to treating revisions with that transfer the problem often is that the over treated area now lacks supportive post tissue to support the graft leading to high percentage fat graft failure and trying to restore volume. unpredictable fat survival does not help in creating even contours. Typically some improvements can be had and often the best outcomes require several rounds of surgery. Revision work is many times more difficult than primary Liposuction or fat transfer. This will require an in person consultation. When scheduling consultations for second opinions you need to bring all sets of before and after pictures and the operative report from your previous surgeries to those consultations. If you don’t have the before and after pictures or opera ports taken by your surgeon then you should call their office and request them. The importance of choosing a highly talented experienced surgeon is critically important for primary procedures to avoid having poor outcomes. It is much much more important when it comes to revision work since this type of work is much more challenging. To move forward you need to be in the hands of the most talented board-certified plastic surgeon in your area when it comes to Liposuction and fat transfer work. You need to accept that limited improvements may be all that you can have and be ready to have multiple procedures. Patients who have had bad outcomes, bad experiences or been disfigured require much more handholding and consume a lot of time from plastic surgeons. In our practice we offer free consultations for cosmetic primary procedures but charge for consultations including follow up visits for patients who are looking for revision work or secondary procedures from other surgeons.
