Why did my breast sag after my pregnancy if I have i breast implants?

Question

I got a breast implant two years and recently gave birth to my son three months ago. Since I have implants, why are my breast super saggy? They look tiny as if I didn't have implants anymore, and I am full of stretch marks.

Thank you for the question.Unfortunately there is no way to predict exactly how a patient's breasts will change after pregnancy. A good indication may be to evaluate the changes that occurred with your mother's breasts after her pregnancies (although this is not foolproof either). It may be helpful to keep your weight as stable as possible (under the guidance of your OB/GYN) to prevent significant changes with the breasts related to the weight changes.You should also consider postponing having the breast augmentation if you think you may have pregnancies in the near future.Anecdotally, in our practice, we have seen many patients have pregnancies, and not require additional breast surgery subsequently. On the other hand, we've seen many patients who experienced classic post partum breast changes such as decreased breast tissue volume (" involutional hypoplasia") and/or breast sagging ("ptosis"). Breast
implants will not prevent your breasts from sagging or responding to bodily
changes such as weight fluctuations or pregnancy. In fact, breast implants can
even worsen existing sagging since they add weight to your breasts. It’s not
uncommon for women to undergo implant revision or an additional breast
enhancement procedure after pregnancy, since the body does tend to change quite
a bit in response to pregnancy hormones. If you’re concerned about the
appearance of your breasts, I recommend you schedule a consultation with a
board certified plastic surgeon who specializes in breast enhancement. He or
she may suggest a breast lift, perhaps in combination with a boost in implant
size.

From your description, it is very normal to have changes to the breasts after pregnancy. This normally results in excess skin and less breast tissue. This will contribute to the appearance of a droopier breast. Despite the fact that you have breast implants, that does not change the way your body responds to the hormonal fluctuations during pregnancy. It is likely you will need a breast lift to restore your appearance to what it was prior to the birth of your child.You should see a board certified plastic surgeon in your area to get a formal opinion through an in-person consultation.Best of luck,

This is a normal result after babies to have the skin stretch..  When you were pregnant it was larger due to milk production.  Now after the baby...  the skin is loose and the breast tissue can get smaller.  This is what I see and take care of everyday as a breast surgeon.   Not to worry...there is a treatment. An implant does not change after pregnancy. Your own breast tissue changes during and after pregnancy so that is what you are seeing. From what you describe, you may need a lift. Go in for a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon to find out what your options are. Keep in mind that your body may change again after any other pregnancies. Best wishes.
