Why do I see barely any results 6 weeks post liposuction?

Thank you for sharing your question and I am sorry that your current results have not been what you anticipated.  Swelling is most likely masking your results as the stomach is requires more fluid to be placed for liposuction and has a greater capacity for stretching than the legs or arms.  Be patient but voice your concerns to your surgeon, they can offer you the best reassurance.

Please note that liposuction is not a weight loss method, but actually a contouring procedure. That being said, 6 weeks is very early and it can take several months for swelling to subside. Do not judge your look until you have given your body some time to heal.

I tell my patients that they will be swollen for 6 weeks after liposuction.  At 6 weeks, the liposuctioned areas typically look like they did before surgery.  Then, after a subsequent 6 weeks (total of 12 weeks after liposuction), patients will be able to appreciate their results as the majority of their swelling will have receded by that time.

Before and After Pics would help, but first of all, liposuction is not a weight loss tool and therefore you will not necessarily see a difference weight wise. The rigidness and lumps are normal and part of the healing process. Talk to your surgeon about possible massage techniques to smooth things out. The firmness is more than likely swelling which can last 3-6 months before you will really begin to see your final results. 6 weeks is still very early into recovery. Continue to wear some sort of compression garment to help minimize the swelling and make sure to follow up with your surgeon as scheduled.
