I’ve had liposuction done about 6 months ago and a month in I started to have really bad intestinal issues. Since then I can’t eat nything too fat or I go running to the bathroom with diahrrea. I do suffer with constipation, but it seems like it has gotten way worse. Lots of stomach noises and painful cramps on the left side of my stomach. I then go to the bathroom for around 5 times. I’ve also had a few persistent UTIs, with discomfort and leakage. Could all that be related to the surgery???
Answer: Liposuction No, your GI problems should not be related to surgery except that surgery is stress and stress may cause some problems to become worse. Go to your medical doctor and be checked for food allergies. You may be celiac and need to come off wheat, or possibly be allergic to dairy or other things.

Answer: Addressing Post-Liposuction Intestinal and Bladder Concerns I’m truly sorry to hear about the complications you’re experiencing six months post-liposuction. However, it’s highly unlikely that your intestinal and bladder issues are related to the liposuction procedure. It's crucial to consult with your primary care physician regarding these symptoms promptly. Additionally, seeking advice from specialists like a gastroenterologist, a urologist, and perhaps a nutritionist would be beneficial. The investigations that may be required include stool and urine analyses, upper and lower endoscopies, CT scans, and bloodwork. Your symptoms suggest the possibility of UTIs, cholecystitis, gallstones, or even pancreatic issues that necessitate immediate attention and appropriate treatment. I hope this provides clarity on your concerns about the relationship between your recent health issues and liposuction surgery. Good luck with your investigations and subsequent treatments. Sincerely, Dr. Katzen

Answer: GI issues I'm sorry to hear of the issues you've been having. During liposuction the cannula is placed underneath the skin to remove excess subcutaneous fat. None of the organs are exposed and should not be affected by this procedure. I encourage you to visit with your primary care physician or gastroenterologist for an evaluation.

Answer: Intestinal and bladder issues Dear AmyNoWinehouse88, I understand your concern. It is unlikely that your liposuction is the cause of intestinal and bladder issues. However, without a proper assessment, it would be difficult to determine what went wrong. It is best that you visit your doctor for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper recommendations and advice.
