Answer: What is your surgeon telling you? Your left cheek is compromised and if hard and black, you will lose skin there that will take weeks to heal. You should be having an ongoing dialogue with your surgeon to find the best ways possible to minimize your down time so you can go back to work. I'm sorry you are having to deal with this but its your surgeon's obligation to help you through this.

Answer: Problems after facelift It's common to have some swelling after facial cosmetic surgery, and this varies based on the patient, and the number or type of procedures performed. However, the areas on your left cheek, in front of your left ear need to be evaluated by your surgeon immediately. After facelift, if the blood supply to part of the skin is not sufficient, you can experience partial or full-thickness skin loss. Treating this early can minimize your chances of infection, speed your healing, and minimize the scarring that can occur. Try to be seen by your plastic surgeon ASAP. Best regards,-Erik Hoy, M.D.
