The product line that we carry for our patients to use after a facelift/neck lift is Obagi ZO. Dr. Obagi does not believe in moisturizer. He believes in making your skin healthy so that it can regulate the moisture. After a facelift you want to preserve your investment by keeping the skin active. You can do this with retin A, glycolic acids, growth factors, peels etc. The best thing to do is to come in for a consultation and we can customize a skin care regimen for you.

Skin treatments after mayor surgical procedures like
facelift and neck lift should be guided and managed by the patient’s primary
facelift/neck lift surgeon. Although most of the moisturizers are safe to
normal and untreated skin, they could cause harm to patient’s skin. Patients should
ask their primary facelift surgeon what moisturizer is safe for his/her use
taking into account their surgical background.

Moisturizers and skin care management products need to be individualized to the patient's skin type and overall purpose. This includes preoperative skin preparation, immediately after surgery care and then maintenance/preventative products and treatments. We like many plastic surgeons have full time medical aestheticians just for this purpose.

There are hundreds of moisturizers that could be used on the face before or after surgery and everyone may have a different opinion of which they prefer.  You may want to contact your surgeon's office to see if they have a preference of which moisturizer to use.  A moisturizer with sun protection in it would be helpful.

TI am presuming you are asking about the application of cream to the scars and the neck /face after surgery. To be honest it is the massage and the amount of massage of the cream that is more important than the actual cream. Of course each PS will have a favourite cream but at the end of the day it is the quality of the massage that provides the most benefit.
