8 months post rhinoplasty and hit my nose very hard

Question

I had rhinoplasty 8 months ago and today I hit my nose very hard against my phone and there was bleeding. It is swollen and a bit sore when touched, will the swelling go down and go back to normal?

Dear Macexx,I am sorry you are concerned. At eight months post-op, you would need to have a significant injury in order to cause damage to your nose. Thanks for sharing your question. It's not likely (though, it is possible) that this minor trauma would effect your rhinoplasty result. Though, if the trauma was sufficient to cause any bleeding or swelling you should give your surgeon a call and have your surgeon examine your nose. Even though it has been eight months since your rhinoplasty, the bones can shift if you sustain significant trauma to the area. 
This is usually seen as a visible deviation of the nose during or after the acute swelling phase. It is a good sign that you don't see any deviation of the nose yet but I do recommend allowing your surgeon to examine you as soon as you can.

I suggest you see your rhinoplasty surgeon to assess your nose. With that said, it is unlikely (although not impossible) to have significantly damaged your nose, especially 8 months after your rhinoplasty. Good luck!

Its unlikely that you significantly damaged your nose with a telephone.  You should see your surgeon for an assessment.  Typically swelling will settle down over a few weeks.

Recovering from rhinoplasty is a healing process. Accidents do happen. If you have bleeding or significant swelling, pain, or change in the shape of your nose, I recommend returning to your surgeon so they may examine you. Based on that exam, they can make a safe plan for your nose. Safety comes first.

Contact your surgeon for an in person exam.  It takes months to heal from Rhinoplasty, and this could have caused a set back.
