Can Juvederm injection be taken if one has a history of auto immune disorder?

I have used Juvederm for a patient with autoimmune disease but I first checked with her rheumatologist to make sure the disease was well-controlled, and did some research to ensure there were no contraindications.  Every person is unique so it would be best for you to involve all of your own physicians and make sure they think it is reasonable in your situation.

Juvederm is generally very safe, even for someone that has an autoimmune disorder. Juvederm is largely made up of hyaluronic acid which is a product that naturally occurs in the body. Speak to your injector about any concerns before treatment, and you should talk to your doctor first to make sure Juvederm is okay for you.

Yes, I have done Juvederm for
exactly this problem in a woman with sarcoidosis. I have also injected other
patients with autoimmune diseases without problems but I am always watching for
any problems and making sure the patient knows to contact me if anything
happens, just in case.

Autoimmune disease, by itself, is not a contraindication to hyaluronic acid filler treatments. I agree with Dr. Andrade that you should discuss this without your Rheumatologist prior to treatment.
