Great question! As long as your kidneys stone are not due to or causing you to have any medical issues that would prevent you from undergoing general anesthesia, then you should be able to proceed. I always have patients obtain a medical clearance from their primary care doctor and for you additionally your kidney doctor, to look you over and clear you for anesthesia. If they are okay with you having surgery, then you should be good to goBest of luck and hope this information helps!- Dr. Roger Tsai @DrRogerTsaiBoard Certified Plastic Surgeon
Thank you for your question about kidney stones and having a BBL. Having a history of kidney stones should not impact having a Brazilian Butt Lift. Of course, you want to be healthy at the time of your BBL, without currently suffering from an acute attack of stones. Let your Plastic Surgeon know about your history and consider seeing your urologist before having the BBL.
Having kidney stones will not prevent you from having a BBL. Recent urine analyses, CT scan, or ultrasound may be requested from your urologist to determine the stones' sizes and location. You do not want to be suffering with the pain or other complications of kidney stones while recovering from the BBL.Kenneth Hughes, MD, ABPS Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA
Dear Sexxyb, kidney stones are not a contraindication for BBL surgery. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
Hello dear!!Thanks for the question and provided information as well. Please talk to your nephrologist to see if you are clear for plastic surgery and then I suggest you to book a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon to discuss the best options for your goals.Hope this is helpful. Good luck :)
I don't see why having a history of forming kidney stones should prevent you from having a BBL if you want that procedure. I'm sorry that you've had to go through having multiple kidney stones. This is no fun at all. Hopefully you have a good urologist you're working with who can help you with the kidney stones. I suggest talking to that person and making sure they don't have an issue with you having an elective cosmetic procedure. Your plastic surgeon may ask for medical clearance from your primary care doctor or urologist. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
