I need to have a 3hr labia surgery and two weeks later, planning for breast augmentation. In between surgeries I'm planning on HBOT (hyperbaric chamber treatment) to help with healing. Is it safe for anesthesia twice in a month. Maybe wait three weeks? Does HBOT affect this question in anyway?
Answer: Anesthesia Having general anesthesia twice in one month should not be an issue for a person in general good health. Speak to your surgeon about any specific concerns you have. Best wishes!

Answer: No problem I recommend an in person consultation with a plastic surgeon to discuss your goals and be measured. After I measure and discuss goals with my patients, we then look at pictures of women (my patients) with similar measurements with different size breast implants. They also get to see what they would look like when the breasts have fully dropped and fluffed and in clothes. You get to see actual results and the surgeon's experience and not a virtual idea of what can be achieved. Women tell me that this process is very helpful in determining what is right for them. Answer: Anesthesia 2x in one month Dear MDOLLA21, you should fully heal from one elective procedure before you get another elective procedure. Most plastic surgeons would recommend you wait at least 6 months between procedures. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations. Answer: Two operations It is perfectly safe to have anesthesia twice in one month. What I can’t figure out is the hyperbaric oxygen. What’s that for? Seems odd that you would need it

Answer: Anesthesia Hello, two general anesthesias in one month does not pose a serious risk for the majority of healthy patients. However, anesthesia in individuals over the age of 65 or 70 may have lingering effects on the brain for months to years. This phenomenon is a concern in older individuals. Cognitive function in elderly patients undergoing surgical procedures under general anesthesia can be protected via HBO preconditioning. In general, HBO can only be helpful in your recovery. In conclusion, healthy non elderly individuals do not have a significant risk undergoing more than a single anesthesia in one month. Sincerely, Debra L Stafford, MD
