Can I wear a sports bra everyday instead of an actual bra for support?

I would allow you to do this.  Some of this depends upon the location of the incision.  Some bras with wires may not be a great idea with an incision under the breast.

I would recommend that you discuss this question with your surgeon as every surgeon has their own respective post op protocol for his/her patients.  Your surgeon is your best resource as he/she is most familiar with your medical history and how you are healing at this time.

Thank you for your question.I would not recommend wearing a sports bra 24/7 after surgery. A sports bra will hold the breasts up high and not allow them to drop and look natural. I would discuss this with your surgeon, usually we recommend a bra with cups and no underwire, they may even have something at their office that you can try.

Good question and as with many thing in cosmetic surgery, there are a variety of options, and I think it makes sense to discuss this with the surgeon performing your procedure.  It may be fine from their standpoint but it's important to check with them first.

This is a good question but also a question your surgeon is best to answer as all surgeons have slightly different pre and post operative instructions. 

When to start wearing a regular bra and so forth depends entirely on surgeon recommendations and preference.  I usually have my patients wear a surgical or loose sports bra for the first 2 months.  After that they can start wearing a regular bra (underwire).  I generally recommend to my patients to always use support, even to bed.  A good underwire bra at all times, a push up bra is ok after 4 months.  A sports bra is good when exercising and wearing to bed, but outside of that, I recommend my patients to wear a good underwire bra.I would suggest you discuss the treatment plan with your surgeon.Good luck.

should be cleared by your surgeon as we all have our quirks and preferences.  I only recommend sport bras when engaging in bouncy or vigorous activities once cleared for activities.  But these are heavy duty, underwire, adjustable strap bras and not the 'sport bra' you just wiggle into.  As for comfortable bras down the road, my patients like the SOMA brand and you can find them on-line... and always wait for a sale.

Thank you for the question.  There is no "standard" when it comes to the use of bras after breast surgery.  











  I am an advocate for the use of supportive bras after breast augmentation surgery.   In my opinion, the use of the supportive bra may help prevent breast implants from moving into the "paths of least resistance": down or out.  In my practice, patients wake up with a surgical bra in place. This surgical bra, although not attractive, is supportive and used for about one month after surgery (some of my patients have been known to burn the bra ASAP). Then, patients transition to a soft sports bra. Wired bras are used when breast implants have reached their “final position” and patients have full sensation along the breast skin. Generally, the longer I have been in practice, the more I appreciate the use of supportive bras for the first several months after breast augmentation and revisionary breast surgery.

Following your post-operative period, most surgeons would say it is ok to wear a supportive sports bra. The most important thing for you to do is to discuss this with your surgeon as you are ready to transition from your surgical bra. Best wishes for your upcoming surgery.
