Did I get optic nerve damage from a Restylane injection?

Two days ago I got Restylane lyft in Beverly Hills. The doctor is well-reviewed on RealSelf and specializes in eye areas. He put it in the area between my temple and eye, and just under my eyebrow. While he was injecting, I felt a sudden, strange feeling, like the hairs on my head were pulled. Not painful, but strange. He said he hit a nerve and this is normal. Since then, if I touch a certain spot on my brow, I feel the nerve ending somewhere else. Is there permanent damage?

There can be swelling for 1-2 weeks after fillers, which may compress the nerve. If you remain concerned, I recommend following up with your injector. Hope this helps.

Optic Nerve damage is an extremely rare complication from Dermal fillers. The symptoms include sudden vision loss and occurs almost immediately after the injection. It is highly unlikely that you suffered any type of nerve damage. I recommend you call your surgeon immediately if you have concerns. If necessary, the filler can be quickly dissolved with a vitrase injection.
