Is this superficial filler/filler cyst in my lip?! 4 wks post Restylane Lyft injection. (photos)

Question

I recently (4 weeks ago) had 1 syringe of Restalyne Lyft injected into my lips via cannula method. I now have this lump on my top lip. It's firm, painless and not changing. At my follow up, my provider aspirated thinking it was a mucocele, however, nothing came out. She recommended massage or injecting more filler to camouflage it. I declined the second option. Does this need popped or drained?!

Hi and thank you for your question! Having lumps following lip injection is quite common and while most are related to swelling and go away within 2 weeks, lumps persisting beyond that (for 4 weeks like your cases) are more likely to be filler itself and they can be best treated with injection of hyaluronidase. It's a fairly simple treatment and when done skillfully, you should see great results quickly. I hope it helps and good luck!

It looks like a small amount of filler, which can be dissolved with hyaluronidase. I recommend following up with your injector. Hope this helps.

This needs an in-person evaluation, but this could be superficially placed filler. If you're unhappy with your final results, you can have it reversed with hyaluronidase and try a different technique next time. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Your bump is a small amount of filler. This can easily be corrected with a small injection of hyaluronidase to dissolve the Restylane Lyft. Sometimes the filler can also be extracted. It should be an easy fix. Best of luck!
