How long after lipodissolve can I do Kybella?

I recommend following up with your Doctor about the recommended timeline. Keep in mind, a combination approach would give the most improvement. Kybella, PDO Nova Threads, Ultherapy and/or ThermiRF treatments (Venus Legacy) are non-invasive options that would do well in combination for skin tightening. VASER with ThermiRF is a great alternative for contouring and tightening the chin and neck. See a cosmetic dermatologist for a long term treatment plan.

Dear Lozcurtis,Kybella typically takes 3 to 5 treatments to work. This is why I've stopped carrying Kybella in my office.  I recommend neck liposuction more often then any injectable procedure for the neck now. It provides superior results gives me more control over the area than any injectable.  It also costs about the same as what you paid for your first kybella session. The liposuction can be done under local while awake in the office and recovery is about the same as kybella.Daniel Barrett, MD

Thanks for your question.  I would suggest waiting 6-8 weeks before doing any other treatment to reduce fat in the area.  We have discontinued Kybella treatments in our practice for melting submental fat.  If you want a non-surgical approach, the FDA recently approved the SculpSure laser for treating submental fat (double chins).  It is a quick 25 minute, completely non-invasive treatment.  In the FDA study, the participants had 100% satisfaction after 1 or 2 treatments.  In the Kybella FDA studies, there is high satisfaction after an average of 6 treatments.  I did SculpSure recently and it was only mildly uncomfortable.  I had no noticeable swelling.  With Kybella, you will have noticeable swelling for 1-4 weeks.  The treatment cost for 1 SculpSure Submental is less than the average cost of 1 Kybella treatment.  Before you consider CoolScupt, try holding an ice pack under your chin for 4 minutes.  Now think about doing it for an hour.  You have youth on your side.  I'm not sure that you will need any skin tightenng treatments after SculpSure Submental.  Before considering Ultherapy, read the reviews about the hig level of pain.  Most patients don't return for their second treatment.  Best of luck.

I would recommend waiting a minimum of 6 weeks before considering Kybella. If you have any prolonged reactions, swelling, inflammation, or skin changes from the original injection, I would wait six weeks from the point of healing before proceeding with additional treatment with Kybella.  In our practice, we perform liposuction in the neck which is a one time treatment removal fatty deposits in the neck. Simple liposuction can be performed under local anesthesia. Anticipate two weeks of visible bruising and swelling after the procedure. If there is excess  fat located underneath the platysma muscle, a surgical neck lift will be required to remove that which also includes a platysma-plastic. Hi Lozcurtis,To be safe, give yourself 4-6 weeks after lipodissolve before starting on Kybella. It's best to have Kybella done by a really skilled Injector. It is effective but be aware that unlike filler or Botox, you need more time to be able to appreciate the results. Sometimes, it's already time for a follow-up injection yet the result of the first injection isn't obvious yet.  The fat loss is permanent and on occasion, it can even be used to help shape the jawline with injections on pockets of fat.All the best, Justin Harper, M.D.
