I'm interested in getting this procedure and my plastic surgeon has said he will inject the majority of fat under the muscle in the breast and a little on top of my breast tissue. I'm concerned about calcifications etc. and was wondering if it'd be okay to only get fat injected under the muscle. Is there any risk of doing it under the muscle only? I'm only after a minor breast size increase.

Answer: Breast Augmentation via Fat Transfer My advice for this procedure is to make certain the plastic surgeon you are seeking has vast experience with fat grafting to the breast for augmentation procedures. Most plastic surgeons who perform breast reconstruction after cancer surgery do perform breast fat grafting, but not many perform fat grafting for augmentation purposes because the results that are achievable are varied and usually very subtle.Good luck.

Answer: Fat Transfer to the Breasts The fat can be placed under the muscle and above. In breast reconstruction patients it preferable to place it under, intra (inside) and above the muscle since there is no breast tissue available. Generally for augmentation, it is not necessary to go underneath the muscle.
