The decision on whether or not you need a lip lift is not based on that number alone. While the length of the upper lip is obviously important, it is the relationship of the upper lip to the rest of the face that counts. One factor is how much upper tooth show you have at rest. In some patients the upper lip looks long but in fact it is an overly shortened nose from rhinoplasty that is throwing off the proportion. If you already have significant tooth show at rest a lip lift is not a good idea.
