Can I have Buccal fat removal a month after Rhinoplasty?

Great question!  Yes after a month, you should be fine to undergo a buccal lipectomy procedure under local anesthesia.  I would however, defer to your rhinoplasty surgeon to make sure he/she is okay with you undergoing this 1 month afterwards, but medically, you should be fine.

Thank you for asking! I believe you’re safe medically to have the procedure a month after rhinoplasty. I encourage you to share your plans with your rhinoplasty surgeon as well.  I have commonly performed both procedures during one surgery, helping my patient avoid multiple recovery periods as well as anesthesia twice. Local anesthesia is a nice option for this procedure as well.

Yes, both surgeries can be done at the same time considering that buccal fat pad is a minor surgery and it does not add significant time as far as general anesthesia. The recovery is fairly easy for the latter and a can be done at the same time or in a few weeks following rhinoplasty when patient is settled.

Buccal fat reduction can be performed under local anesthesia or IV or general anesthesia.  Ideally it would be performed at the same time as rhinoplasty but if you are preferring another surgeon 1 month after your rhino should be fine to do it but both surgeons should know and will ultimately make the final decision. 

I can't think of a reason not to go ahead with the buccal fat removal. If you had no complications after your rhinoplasty and you are healing properly, you can do it. One procedure does not interfere with the other.

1 month is the bare minimum to wait after your rhinoplasty;  safer yet would be to wait until you are 3 months out from surgery.   I would make sure you are healing well from your previous surgery, check with your surgeon and then proceed.  Good luck!

As long as your rhinoplasty surgeon is aware and agrees, there should be no medical reason for delaying the second procedure for more than 4 weeks unless there is residual nasal congestion following the rhinoplasty. It is best for the nasal airway to be clear when operating intraorally. Many surgeons will perform both procedures together.

You should be totally ok! However make sure you clear this with your rhinoplasty surgeon and make sure they feel comfortable with you having a procedure one month after your rhinoplasty.  I personally would advise my patient to do them both at the same time, if not then whenever they feel comfortable (at which point usually a month is about the time where they feel ready for another little procedure).  hope that helps! 

Thank you for the question. A month after rhinoplasty should be fine, assuming your healing in the nose is going as expected. As a side note, I frequently perform rhinoplasty and buccal fat reduction together during the same operation. Though buccal fat reduction can be performed with local anesthesia, the additional operative time is so minimal that adding this to a rhinoplasty surgery is not a big deal. Take care and best of luck!
