How do I recover from an unwanted botched subperiosteal midface lift? 15 months post-op.

Question

Something under my soft tissue which wasn't droopy, has been lifted up causing constant pull and discomfort. soft tissue which would be good to lift towards my ear is separated from underneath and fallen down. Lower cheeks hollowed out, upper cheek looks wide horizontal and out of frame of face like I had implants. Middle of face by my nose, looks hollowed out and nose collapses as I breath. Eyes look small with deep valley between cheek and eye. Hard cheeks. How long will this last? Please help

Some of the symptoms you describe are typical of an extensive subperiosteal dissection and the only solution for the tightness feeling is time.  The overly wide cheeks, and perception that the lower face has dropped are both deficiencies of this operation.  At this point, when you are ready, a deep plane face lift (in otherwords elevation of the SMAS and complete release of the retaining ligaments of the cheek and jaw line would allow at least partial normalization in your facial features, as well as correct areas that have fallen.  An in person consulation would be necessary to give realistic expectations, but my procedure helped many patients who started out with an "operated on look".  As long as your symptoms are improving even slightly...I might wait as long as another 6 moths before considering anything.

I'm so sorry you're having a difficult time. Seeing your final results from a facelift can take several months, but at this point your tissues have likely fully healed. From here, you could either revisit your initial plastic surgeon or look for a new board-certified plastic surgeon who focuses on facial plastic surgery to see if revision surgery would be a good option for you. Since you are 15 months out I don't think there will be much further improvement.I would go to another plastic surgeon and get re evaluated.It sounds like some fat grafting to select areas may be in order.
