Should I be worried about swelling almost 4 months after getting fillers?

Hello! I had dermal fillers put on my nose, chin and lips. I had them done about 4 months ago. Today I noticed I have a little bit of pain and swelling in my chin and nose bridge fillers. It is not extremely noticeable, no redness for now, but I can definitely feel it. No swelling in the filler in my lips, but I also got a very small amount there. Is this something I should worry about?

Thank you for sharing your question. It is unlikely that you have swelling in the areas you mentioned so many months following your treatment. You probably should have the product dissolved if you’re unhappy with the results. Make sure you are receiving the actual product that you intended to have injected. Always make sure an expert injector is performing the procedure. Good luck!

It is not typical to have swelling return four months after getting fillers.  Have you recently been ill or had another condition such as allergies that may have contributed to the swelling.  I encourage you to visit with your injector if it doesn't resolve or if it worsens in the next few days.

It would be very rare to develop sequalae from fillers in several areas 4 months post injections. Sometimes, other things are going on in the body and swelling appears in more recent areas of trauma (surgery, filers etc.). I have found this true with post-op patients who had a cold or systemic issue first appearing as a change in the surgical site (weird as a patient who presented one hour ago ate grapes and then developed severe itching in her lipo areas...1 month post op).

Observe it and see if it gets worse or resolves. If redness or fever or increased pain, notify your surgeon immediately.
