To make an assessment of the outcome of the plastic surgery procedure we always need to see proper before and after pictures. If you don’t have before and after pictures, then ask your surgeon to forward the pictures they took.
Correct and gynecomastia can be a bit tricky. Patients often complain that the treatment was insufficient so surgeons may be tempted to be aggressive in the removal of glandular tissue. Over resection can cause indentations and once this is done, it’s difficult to correct.Sometimes there is room for improvement with revision surgery. Other times the outcome is the best that patients can hope for. The number of patients who get results that are exactly what they had hoped for are probably in the minority.
Skill and experience varies among plastic surgeon, and I recommend patients have multiple in person consultation before choosing a provider.
During each consultation ask providers to show you their entire collection of results of previous patients who’s body characteristics are similar to your own. An experienced provider should have no difficulty showing you the before and after pictures of at least 50 previous patients. Understanding what average results look like in the hands of each provider can be helpful when setting expectations regarding the type of outcome you should expect.
