Smaller eye after vitrectomy. What can I do about this?

Please help! What can I do about my eye that looks considerably smaller after a vitrectomy? I probably suffer from mild ptosis but that can't be it. The eyeball seems smaller or deeper in the socket. Also, this eye always used to be my bigger one. Nobody told me this could happen and now doctors say ptosis can be the only thing to happen. When I feel my closed eyelids the operated eye feels less prominent, too. I'm in my 40s and had the vitrectomy to fix a macular hole due to traction.
