How can I fix my 3 year old post chin lipo fibrosis? (Photos)

Question

3 years ago I got liposuction to remove my double chin due to weight gain (which was intentional, but unfortunately my face takes all the fat). Since then, I am left with fibrosis and lumps that are only visible when I look up and stretch the skin. However, when I rest you can still see a lump (or whatever it is) hang down under my chin. This particular one actually feels a little more soft (not totally squishy) than the rest of the hard fibrosis I can definitely determine. So I was wondering, if that might be an encapsulated seroma. If so, could that be removed from such an area? And what about the fibrosis? For the record I am 26 years old.

At 3 years out, this is no longer early scar tissue—this is established fibrosis.

What you’re feeling could be:

firm scar bands (most common)
or less likely, a chronic fluid pocket (seroma), especially if softer
Treatment options:
Subcision → breaks up fibrotic bands
Energy-based devices (RF) → soften tissue
Targeted liposuction revision (in select cases)

If it’s a true encapsulated fluid pocket:

it can be surgically removed, but that’s less common this far out

This is fixable, but usually requires intervention—not topical or passive treatments.

Fibrosis is the direct result of poor surgical technique, being overly aggressive, leaving virtually no subcutaneous fat.
One too much fat is removed. All that’s left is scar tissue and no fat for padding.
For this reason any attempt at improving, this is most likely going to make things worse.
Any surgical procedure in this area will create more scar tissue.
There is no treatment and the worst thing you can do is have another surgical intervention, which will only make things worse.
 Please do not have revision Liposuction.
Fat transfer may seem like a good option, but it is unlikely to be successful because the area no longer has any viable tissue to support grafted fat.
I wish I could be more optimistic about your choices.
For those who were considering having Liposuction, please be very careful when selecting a provider.
In reality, most plastic surgeons aren’t particularly good at Liposuction.
Mastering this procedure is more difficult than most people realize.
