Thank you for your question.The outcome from liposuction takes time. It is normal to get post-operative swelling with most liposuction procedures. The type of liposuction used significantly affects the early and long term results. Smart Lipo and Ultrasonic liposuction are often associated with less post-operative swelling and better skin tightening. Traditional liposuction tends to have more bruising, numbness and swelling in the immediate operative period. Although the swelling is usually dramatically better at 10 days to two weeks, final results take much longer. SL results take 3 months. UAL results take 6 months. One week after surgery is early to return to heavy weights - this may also be affecting your swelling.Wear your compression garments as advised as they reduce swelling and improve long term results. They also prevent fluid "collections" in the area that was treated. I suggest you follow up with your surgeon if you have any concerns or questions.
